Rutgers–Camden hosts visiting artists, both in-person and through the SkypeOnArt Series, as well as exhibits in the Student Works Gallery.

Visiting Artists Program

Nationally and internationally acclaimed visual artists visit campus to present lectures about their work and professional practices. Visiting artists have a chance to meet with the students and larger Rutgers–Camden community to continue the dialogue about perspectives on contemporary art and design. The title of our spring lecture series is Space and Body.

Lectures are held at 12:45 p.m. in Room 110 in the Fine Arts Building.

Wearable Lab on Body, Patti Maes


Nationally and internationally renowned artists share images or video shorts of their work and answer questions. Discussions have included making electricity out of mud, the nature of collage, and narrative and new trends in performance and sound.

All talks will begin at 11:20 in Room 109 in the Fine Arts Building.

Student Works Gallery

The Student Works Gallery in the Campus Center showcases exhibitions from the Rutgers–Camden community. Fall semester hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.


Lavett Ballard: HER-Stories—Visual Narratives of Women of the African Diaspora
Feb. 10–March 13

Artist Talk 1 p.m. Feb. 20, with reception 5–7 p.m.

Tar Baby by Lavett Ballard

The exhibition is comprised of recent mixed media works by Lavett Ballard CCAS’14. Ballard views her art as a reimagined visual narrative of people of African descent.
